Shivappa (pronounced: SHIV-uh-PA) is the younger brother of Kattappa. He is the youngest son of Malayappa. Unlike his brother and father, who served the nobles with utmost respect, Shivappa hated being branded a slave and got into the influence of Vaithalikas, a forest tribe to he decends from. He deeply wanted his brother to join, but with he and his father on his tail to capture him, he stayed more loyal to his passion then to his family.

Subsquently, this led him to killing his father in a attempt to escape. He became the leader of the Vaithalikas after Vaithalikas leader Bhutaraya was killed by Maharaja Somadeva. He became popular as many people believed him to have passed, he subsquently took over the Gauriparvat mountain, which was the Vaithalikas main ambition. He furthermore hated Prince Bjjaladeva, who had raped and killed his lover Kamakshi.

He was eventually killed in a due between his own brother Kattappa, who overpowered and decapitated him.
