History and Role[]

Tiger By The Tail[]

Multiple trading and transportation caravans from Mahishmati have been reported to be attacked, and the men who have survived have claw marks. They claim to have been attacked by a demon that moves as fast as light and has red eyes. Sivagami calms the public and promises to put their grief and worry to rest by slaying the beast and displaying it. She and Pradhan Guru send the princes and a team of guards to the forest to investigate.

Baahubali joins two guards named Kishan and Ravi, the latter is a coward and worrier in the eyes of Bhalla and his fellow guard Mohan. They find the tiger in the late night and it attacks them, but Baahubali deflects the attacks with his strength. Finding out the tiger is trying to protect her cubs from an attacking warthog, Baahubali hurls his sword at the warthog, subduing it. The tiger becomes grateful and returns to her cubs.

Baahubali talks to Kishan about whether or not they should hurt the tiger, as it occupies the forest and is merely protecting it's territory. Before they can discuss further, Kishan is wounded by claw marks. Baahubali notices the markings are laced with a sedative poison. He barely dodges and proceeds to fight back a back stabbing Ravi who's armed with a hook and chain. Baahubali is slashed and weakened, but the tiger comes to his rescue and kills Ravi. Bhalla arrives and fights the tiger before Baahubali can stop him, and faints.

The next day Baahubali is woken up and he tells Bhalla about Ravi's betrayal, but Bhalla doesn't believe him as they found no such weapon as Baahubali described. Bhalla confirms the tiger was killed and Baahubali finds the cubs later that day. He lends them to a woman whose husband was killed by the tiger as a gift to raise them as they have lost their own mother. She accepts and departs.
