Mekhala Devi was a imporant figure in Bahubali: Before The Beginning.

She is the daughter of noblemen Pattaraya, an ambitious noblemen who will do anything for more power. Her mother is Chitraveni, the imprisoned queen of Kadaraimandalam.

She loves her father sincerely and will do anything for him. That's why she agreed to be seducive to the governor of Kadaraimandalam, Shankaradeva, so she can have him under influence. Instead, she gets place in the harem.

Pattaraya saved Mekhala by killing Shankaradeva. Her father worked hard by influencing Mahismathi Prince Bjjaladeva, and made his go against his country. This led to Kadaraimandalam capturing Mahishmathi and making them a vassal. King Somadeva was dethroned and Mekhala became the pupper ruler of Mahishmathi. She was married to Bjjaladeva after becoming Queen of Mahishmathi. 5 years later, Mahishmathi outsmarted Pattaraya and got Kadaraimandalam a vassal once again. Mekhala and her father Pattaraya were captured. They were both executed shortly after Pattaraya had Somadeva assassination through a spy of his, Uthanga. Mekhala put a curse on Sivagami before her execution.
