| Smuggled outside of Mahishmati kingdom, Shivdu grows up to aspire to climb the waterfall. Driven out find the identity of a mask, Shvdu falls in love with Avanthika. Avanthika's mission is to save Devasena, who has been imprisoned by the cruel king, Bhallala Deva and Shivdu goes on Avathika's mission. Shivdu learns that he is Mahendra Baahubali, the son of late Amarendra Baahubali and Devasena. Kattappa, a slave, narrates Amarendra's story. The story continues.

Mahendra (Shivdu) continues to learn his heritage. Amarendra meets and falls in love with Devasena, the princess of Kunthala Kingdom. Bhallala Deva creates a wedge between Sivagami and Amarendra by using Devasena. An enraged Sivagami makes Bhallala Deva king. Due to further clashes, the couple are banished from the palace and Bhallala Deva manipulates Sivagami, leading Amarendra to be killed. After listening to this story, Mahendra decides to avenge his father's death.
