Amburi (pronounced: UHM-boo-REE) is a village in the northern part of the kingdom of Mahishmati, next to the River Pranahita and the River Pranahita waterfall. In it live in the Amburi Tribe, with Sanga and her unnamed husband as their leaders. It is where Mahendra Baahubali (alias Shivudu/Shiva) grew up after being adopted by Sanga.

History[]

Not much is known about the history of Amburi, but we do know that Amburi has been relatively isolated from the rest of Mahishmati, as well as its vassal states, like Kunthala. There is an underground pathway from the base of the waterfall to THE FIELD (outside of the main city of Mahishmati). It is possible the royal family of Mahishmati had this passage built, as Sivagami knew of its existence when she escaped the city with an infant Mahendra. Sanga had the entrance to the passageway near the base of the waterfall blocked off after the villagers saved Mahendra from drowning in the river.

Mahendra was raised by Sanga and her husband and grew up in Amburi. After years of trying, he successfully climbed the waterfall and went on the mission to rescue Devasena. Sanga, who was worried about him, had the villagers open the passageway. The villagers followed her into it and it led them to THE FIELD, in the midst of THE BATTLE.

After Kattappa told the story of Amarendra Baahubali, the villagers of Amburi were led by Mahendra in the Battle of Mahishmati. After winning the battle and killing Bhallaladeva, it is implied the villagers abandoned their village and chose to live in the city of Mahishmati, as Sanga and her husband were present at Mahendra's coronation, seated with the rest of the royal family.

Geography[]
